Beth Marlis is currently the Vice President of Industry and Community Relations at Musicians Institute, and also serves as the Executive Director of The Musicians Foundation. She was formerly the Vice President of Education from 2009-2010, and Department Head of GIT from 2000-2009. She has been an instructor at GIT since 1987. She holds a Masters Degree in Music from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelors Degree in Music from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She was a Vocational Honors graduate of GIT (class of 86').
While
working her way up the musical food chain, Beth has performed with a
wide range of artists including Harold Land, Brownie McGee, Louis
Bellson, Helen Reddy, and many others. She has also been involved with
various music videos, studio recording projects, and has composed a
dozen film scores; while maintaining a career as a professional
"sideman" in LA.
Beth
is co-author (with Dan Gilbert) of the books: "Guitar Soloing" and
"Advanced Guitar Soloing" published by MI/Hal Leonard. She also appears
in the companion instructional video release: "Guitar Soloing".
